Medical Providers
Katherine Homrok, MD
Dr. Katherine Homrok has been proud to call Pittsburgh her home since 1987. She is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and the Shadyside Hospital Family Practice Residency. She was one of the original founders of Metro Community Health Center and was its first Executive Director. She now proudly serves as Metro’s Medical Director.
She was formerly a member of the faculty at Forbes Regional Hospital’s family practice residency, and is Board Certified in Family Medicine with a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatric Medicine. She also has a strong interest in women’s health and health issues of the LGBTQ community.
Her interests include gardening, cooking and biking. Her greatest biking achievement was completely riding the trails from Washington, D.C. to Pittsburgh. She is interested in physical fitness and many other sports.

Rachel Durkalski, DO
Rachel has a doctoral degree in osteopathic medicine. She also has a Master’s Degree in Philosophy. She is certified by The American Board of Family Medicine and The American Board of Obesity Medicine. Her special interests are women’s health, pediatrics, and global health.
When she is not treating her patients, Rachel loves to travel and try new and interesting food.
Angela Cmar, CRNP
Angela earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from California University of Pennsylvania and went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Nursing from Carlow University. After graduating, Angela worked at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in the Cardio Thoracic Internal Care Unit where she managed the care of patients undergoing open heart surgery, Heart/Lung transplants, and patient’s requiring artificial hearts. Angela is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner.
Angela has worked the majority of her career dealing with patients with heart and lung failure, and she is still very passionate about both. She is also very excited to get to know more patients in the community and help them with their diverse health care needs. In her free time, Angela likes to play board games with her friends and host movie watch parties.
David Freeman, MD
Dr. David R. Freeman is a board-certified practitioner who is full-time at Metro Community Health Center and has been associated with the organization since 1999.
Dr. Freeman has special interests in patient education, men’s health, integrative medicine and is licensed in acupuncture. Dr. Freeman has been an active parent volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America and supports the CLO with his wife, Deb. His sons are both currently in college.

Charles E. Timbers, Jr., CRNP
Charles (Chuck) has been working in the nursing profession for 44 years, and 36 of those years as a certified registered nurse practitioner. Charles graduated from the LaRoche University/Allegheny General Hospital Nurse Practitioner Program to receive his certification (CRNP) as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner. His experience has been in emergency medicine, surgery, heart and lung transplant programs, private family practice, correctional medicine, and with the Allegheny County Health Department where he was assistant to the director in the HIV and STI Program.
Charles was one of the original providers with the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health with the Pitt Men’s Study, which is a research study of the Epidemiology and the Natural History of HIV/AIDS infection, funded by the National Institutes of Health in 1984.
Charles is also a professional actor and singer and has performed with the Pittsburgh Opera and has been seen in film and on stage and is a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG/AFTRA) and Actors Equity. He has been seen in several movies and local commercials and theatrical productions when he is not caring for patients. Charles is passionate about caring for patients and working in community health.

Jessica R. DuFour, DNP, PMHNP-BC
Jessica is a graduate of Robert Morris University with a Doctorate of Nursing Degree, and is a Board Certified- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She also has Bachelor of Science degrees in Nursing and Criminal Justice, both degrees were obtained at The Pennsylvania State University.
Jessica has over six years of inpatient psychiatric mental health nursing experience, previously working for UPMC McKeesport. Jessica feels at home when working with individuals from Western, PA.
She is also passionate about caring for LGBTQIA+ individuals and has focused her research on developing ways to improve healthcare provider’s communication with LGBTQIA+ patients.
Jessica enjoys outdoor activities including running, hiking, kayaking, fishing and camping. She also has a Mini Schnauzer (Andy), a Bernedoodle (Ted), and a Golden Retriever (Jack) who keep her busy when she’s not working.
Aneesah Coates, DNP, PMHNP-BC
Karen Fischer, MSN, CRNP, PMHNP-BC
Karen Fischer is a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner with a Board-certification in Psychiatric Mental Health. Her career began with an Associate of Science in Nursing Degree from Mercyhurst University, then a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Capella University. She then went on to obtain a Master of Science in Nursing Degree from Duquesne University. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and Media Studies from Penn State University.
Karen has been working in the mental health field since 2008 as a psychiatric registered nurse in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Her focus is on treating the whole person – prioritizing not only mental health but also the individual’s physical, social, spiritual, and emotional needs. The style of her practice is to keep clients at the center of their treatment and to assist in achieving their mental health goals. Her aim is to help empower each individual to feel confident and comfortable when speaking about their mental health. She has experience working with most mental health diagnoses and has a passion for helping each one. She is honored to support members of underserved communities and the autism community.
In her free time, Karen enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, baking a new dessert to share, having game nights with friends, and taking road trips to Florida.
Kim Mapstone, LPC
Kim has been working in mental healthcare for just under 30 years and is still passionate about her work. She received her Master’s in Human Services from Lincoln University which has provided her with the opportunity to integrate her valuable life experience with psychological and social therapy in the counseling setting. She is a warm and caring counselor who works with all mental health issues to help others achieve inner healing through connecting with their feelings and their true selves. She provides an eclectic approach in order to meet others where they are and grow from there. Kim spends time hanging out with friends, walking her four dogs, dancing, kayaking and especially enjoys being with her wife and other family members.
She specializes in trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, LGBTQ+, drug and alcohol, and teenagers.
Cawanna Harris, MS, LPC
Cawanna is a caring and compassionate therapist. She utilizes an eclectic approach to help clients navigate through the process of change while seeking their desired goals. She is always client-centered, honest, trustworthy and nurturing. She has over 20 years of clinical experience and a wealth of life experience. She received her education from Duquesne University and Carlow University. She specializes in child and adolescents, trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, drug and alcohol, couples, and forensics. In her spare time, you can catch her spending time with friends and family, reading a book, or writing poetry.
Jules Dane Roberts, LPC
Gary Sadler, LCSW, MSW, MPH
Gary completed his Masters in Social Work and Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh. He supports innovative models of care including the Integrated Behavioral Health Care Model in a Primary Care Setting.
He is passionate about providing LGBTQIA+ affirming care to adolescents as well as the adult population. He has experience working with patients that have been stigmatized by HIV, addiction, homelessness, and sexual orientation in primary care and community-based organizational settings. Gary provides patient-centered care that allows patients to be actively involved in the therapeutic process in a non-judgmental and safe environment.
He is happily married to his husband and enjoys attending cultural events, traveling, weekend getaways in the mountains, spending time with family, and relaxing at home with their Goldendoodle, Glinda.
Wanda Ventress, LCSW
Wanda is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) here at Metro Community Health Center. She is a Louisiana native who’s new to the Pittsburgh area. Wanda has over 15 years of experience in the mental health field and has worked with various at-risk and underserved populations. Her goal is to provide services that are supportive and proven effective to help individuals meet their mental health goals. She is thankful to her patients for trusting her to be a part of their mental health journey. While she can’t promise to have a pot of gumbo ready if you stop in to see her, she can promise a warm atmosphere and a friendly smile!
Kellie Walker, MSCP, LPC
Kellie is a dedicated mental health therapist with a unique professional background. After having a career in finance, she attained her Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Chatham University and became a licensed therapist to follow her calling to help others.
Kellie is known for her relaxed, warm, yet attentive style. While she creates a laid-back atmosphere in sessions, she knows when to be serious and dive deep into issues that need to be addressed. Empowerment and directness are central to her approach. It’s important to her to teach practical skills that can be incorporated in daily life.
Regardless of gender, race, orientation, or any other aspect of identity, Kellie provides an inclusive space where clients will have their experiences respected and honored. She uses a variety of modalities to address issues like anxiety, depression, PTSD and trauma and inspires hope for healing.
In her free time, Kellie enjoys watching movies, enjoying nature, reading, and cuddling with her cat.

Suzanne Maslo, DMD, MBA, MA, BSBA
Dr. Maslo has 20 years of professional experience including General Dentistry, Business Administration, Military Leadership, University Instruction and Dental Directorship. She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, her Master of Business Administration and Master of Public Policy at Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA, and her undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA where she graduated as Salutatorian.
She is actively involved in community dentistry and has provided dental care to underserved individuals in Pittsburgh, PA, Wilkinsburg, PA, Cameron County, PA, Johnsonburg, PA, Kersey, PA, Port-At-Prince Haiti, LaGanove Haiti, Prague Czech Republic, Accra Ghana, Banda Ghana, San Jose Honduras, Beijing China, Inner Mongolia China, Waianae Hawaii, Kona Hawaii, Nairobi Kenya, Leh India, Siem Reap Cambodia, Antigua Guatemala, San Martin Guatemala, and the Hoopa Indian Tribe in Hoopa, California.
She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the National Network for Oral Health Access, the Pennsylvania Dental Association, and the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States.
Suzanne is currently involved in the establishment of the new Dental Department at Metro Community Health Center. She has been the Dental Director for Keystone Rural Health Consortia, Inc, in North Central Pennsylvania, and East Liberty Family Health Care Center in Pittsburgh & Wilkinsburg, PA. These organizations are all Federally Qualified Health Care Centers.
She has also served as both the Chief of Dental Services & the Deputy Commander at the 911th ASTS Air Force Reserve in Pittsburgh, PA. In addition, she has served as an Adjunct Instructor in Dental Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. She also has had the opportunity to provide dental services to the people of Western Pennsylvania during the Mission of Mercy 2019 event at PPG Paints Arena. In these roles she is constantly seeking creative ways to foster a dynamic environment and to promote high quality patient care as well as continuous improvement of processes and procedures. She loves animals, gardening, hiking, snowshoeing, working out, and traveling.
Ariel Goldberg, DMD
Dr. Ariel Goldberg grew up in southwest Pennsylvania. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Case Western Reserve University and then attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine for her doctorate degree. After dental school she completed a general practice residency at Allegheny General Hospital where she treated medically complex patients. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Goldberg enjoys practicing yoga, watching movies, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Alex Suarez, DDS
Dr. Alex Suarez grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Louisiana State University. After graduating, he attended West Virginia University School of Dentistry for his doctorate degree. After receiving his DDS, Dr. Suarez did an AEGD residency in Cincinnati, Ohio. This is where his love for public health began.
Treating the underserved community has been so rewarding and makes coming to work a joy. Dr. Suarez began his dental journey at an FQHC where he practiced for 10 years. His team treated the majority of refugees that came through Pittsburgh. Dr. Suarez is now at Metro Community Health Center and is excited to be part of a large team.
Being an LSU grad, he is a die-hard LSU football fan. He loves to cook and try new recipes. Trying new restaurants and going to sporting events is also a must. He is also a car enthusiast.
Stephanie Mudrick, PHDHP/EFDA
Stephanie has a BS in Business Administration from West Liberty University and a BS in Dental Hygiene from Youngstown State University. In addition to a license in dental hygiene, she also holds an EFDA license, local anesthesia license, and is a licensed Public Health Dental Hygiene Practitioner. She has worked in public health for over 5 years and previously worked at the largest FQHC in PA. In her free time, Stephanie enjoys reading, baking, traveling and going to Burn Bootcamp.
Taylor Stein, RDH
Taylor is a 2015 graduate of Westmoreland County Community College, where she earned her Associates’ Degree in Dental Hygiene. In addition to her license in Dental Hygiene, Taylor also holds a license in local anesthesia. For the last 8 years, Taylor has been working in the Pittsburgh area treating patients to a new and improved smile. When she is not cleaning teeth, Taylor enjoys going to concerts, traveling, and trying new restaurants in and around Pittsburgh.
